Mountain view
I took this photo at the summit of a mountain near Bad Reichenhall in September 2023. It immediately caught my eye as I was looking through some older photos – I love the composition.

I got a new lens! 28mm and fixed f4.5 aperture. I’m pretty impressed with the image quality, considering the size and price of the pancake lens. Contrary to the cold dreariness that this picture exudes, my stay at this hotel was quite pleasant.

I did a little research: This is a statue of the Greek poet Sophocles. The original is old. Very old. This one is in Potsdam; I strongly suspect it’s a replica.

In keeping with the colder season, here is another picture from the Alps. I find it fascinating how the snow line always remains the same across mountains. By the way, this is my 50th post!

Another picture from Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, this time from the porticoes of the Friedenskirche. In summer, the whole park looks like something that should actually be much further south. No wonder: the architecture is based on building elements from Italy and Rome.

I also visited Copenhagen for the first time last year. Such extremely modern-looking houses are not uncommon there and I think they always make a good motif, especially when the sun is shining.

In my opinion, one of the most impressive buildings in Oslo is the Opera House. I was lucky and had an afternoon of sunshine, so I went straight up to take a few pictures. This one is just the back, though.

Last year in August I visited Oslo for the first time. I really enjoyed it! I don’t know why I haven’t posted pictures from this trip before, but I think Oslo is a very photogenic city. Stay tuned. This is a shopping arcade in the city center.

I’m trying out a few new methods and programs for editing the images. RawTherapee is very promising! This picture is from this spring and I found it quite nice.

Last weekend was the second time I’ve been to Potsdam and yet I’m only now posting the first picture of the city dotted with Prussian palaces. The building peeking out from behind the trees is the Belvedere on the Klausberg.

Another picture from Aachen. Aachen Cathedral stands directly behind King Saint Stephen. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to take a look inside, but the cathedral is also an eye-catcher from the outside.

It was a long way home from the wedding last weekend and so there was a little stopover in Aachen. I particularly liked this statue of Stephen I of Hungary, especially because of the reflective cloak.

I was at a wedding this weekend and discovered this little corner on the edge of the festivities. This photo is unedited and came straight out of the camera.

As promised: Here are more pictures from this year’s Kieler Woche. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the best view, but I was still able to take some nice pictures. The Pro-Mist filter does a great job here.

The first half of the year ended with this year’s Kieler Woche and I took this as an opportunity to take some pictures again. I definitely want to take more pictures in the second half of the year.

Took a short walk this evening, this was just a quick snapshot, but it still turned out great imo.

Sometimes you have to dig deep into your pile of photos you took over the last year’s. I totally forgot about this one. The Isar, flowing through Munich, summer ’21.

Another picture of my last trip to Cologne. I don’t know why ferris wheels are such nice objects to shoot, but they’re always worth a visit.

Neon lights paired with a pro-mist filter is always a great combination. Get your tickets while they’re still available! I don’t even know what for.

I was a bit surprised by the strong turquoise color that Lake Constance actually has when it’s sunny. It really does look like some place far more south.

I took this image yesterday on my way home from the final fireworks from this year’s Kieler Woche. And because it ended, everyone’s going in the same direction. Love the lighting too.

Next time you’re in Cologne, make sure to visit the Rheinpark on the east side of the Rhine. Especially if you like flowers.

Took this image on my last trip to Göttingen, Niedersachsen. I really like how the daylight shines through the gap between the trees and the houses.

Today’s trip to the beach brought me a lot of cool new pictures. This closed public pool nearby is currently being reclaimed by nature.

Was at the local funfair yesterday. Didn’t ride anything but the ferris wheel but got some nice shots. The many lights and the smoke are always a great combination.

Last weekend I went to the beach and took this picture. It almost looks like a painting. It’s edited, of course, but something about the composition gives it that special look.

What surprised me were these stone pyramids every few meters on the beach. Not even the wind could throw them off balance.

Another shot from my trip to Waabs, Germany. I think the contrast in scale between the man and the see is pretty stunning.

Today me and my girlfriend drove to a small town up north. Didn’t find any amber, but the photos turned out great.

I don’t know exactly what this exhibition was all about, but I saw it last summer when I visited Würzburg. I love how the light shines through the roof.

I stumbled upon these weird looking fences while going for a walk through a forest recently. I think they look like tiny wire ghosts.

The tallest buildings are the last to see the sun set and the first to see it rise again. This is a sunset though.

I personally love fireworks and so I brought my camera with me at the final day of the Kieler Woche of 2021. Didn’t disappoint.

Golden lights passing through these church windows coloring the inside golden as well.

Saw this beautiful car last year as I visited Munich. Got the shot a little too late but the photo turned out nice anyway.

It was actually snowing on last years christmas days. Took a few pictures of my girlfriend while it was slowly getting white outside.

Waking up early to shoot can be worth the cost of being tired for the rest of the day. Especially in summer season.

On my last trip to Cologne during christmas season last year I saw these trees decorated with hundreds of christmas lights. The street lamps are looking nice, too.

Winter in the northern parts of Germany is mostly nothing but wetness. This image reflects that very well I think.

Trying out my new 35mm to 135mm Canon FD Lens on my Fuji X camera. The moon stood just right on that shot.

It was very foggy recently, so I took this very moody picture of a small street with a bright streetlamp in the foreground.
