about me

Hey there! I’m Jonas, and I love capturing the world around me. Whether it’s a unique location or a person, if it’s beautiful, I just can’t resist taking a shot. With this blog, I want to share some of my work with those who are interested in what I do.

I got into photography as a hobby when I was 12. My first camera was a Medion digital one from a local discount store. It didn’t have many features, but for that time and for my age, it was more than enough. I started by taking pictures of my family, vacations, and even making a few short films. Things got more serious after I finished high school in 2016 and bought my first DSLR, a Canon. I wanted to study multimedia production and figured it wouldn’t hurt to know a thing or two about photography, so I started getting familiar with my new camera and experimenting with its settings. Later, in college, I mainly used my Canon DSLR for video projects.

Then, in late 2019, a good friend introduced me to film photography. We both inherited our dads’ old film cameras from the early ’80s and shot our first rolls of 35mm film. And that was it — I was hooked. Walking around the city, always on the lookout for beautiful spots to shoot, felt like a completely new experience, one that I still cherish today. Not having unlimited “storage” on my camera really helped me refine my skills in recognizing the perfect shot. With each roll of film, I got better.

By this point, I was already looking for new ways to enhance my experience. So, in 2020, I bought a Fuji digital camera. Sure, there were no storage limitations anymore, but in the long run, it’s a lot cheaper than constantly buying new 10€ film rolls every 24-36 shots (not to mention the cost of developing the film, which is another 10€ where I live).

With the pandemic restricting most activities, I ended up spending even more time on photography. Now, I mix both film and digital photos, so I can enjoy the best of both worlds. You’ll see both analog and digital images on this blog, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
